On November 30 2023, at the invitation of Ambassador of Cyprus to China, H.E. Mrs. Martha A. Mavrommatis, delegation of YGL, among many other Chinese and foreign guests attended the 63rd anniversary of the Independence of Cyprus in Hilton Beijing.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Deng Li cut the cake with Ambassador Martha. All guests raised glasses to celebrate this wonderful moment.

Ambassador Martha mentioned the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Cyprus and the People's Republic of China on December 14, 1971. Despite the long geographical distance, Cyprus and China share a deep friendship based on mutual trust, respect and understanding. On this solid foundation, the two countries have been expanding their contacts in recent years. The two countries exchanged frequently on high-level visits, pragmatic cooperation is developing comprehensively, and economic and trade relations are advancing.

Under such a closed relation between Cyprus and China, YGL has established a long-term cooperation for education in Cyprus, including the establishment of the first Sino-Cyprus Joint Teaching Institution between Minjiang University and European University Cyprus. Ambassador Martha highly appraised the successes achieved by YGL, which aims to promote the education to further connect the world's civilizations interacting with each other for prosperity and diversity as well as to maintain security, peace and unity in the global community. The strategic cooperation for education covers a wide range of disciplines, which include finance, trade, tourism, sports, computer and communications, business administration, arts, etc. that has expanded to broader view and wider range of potentials between two countries for mutual development.

Ambassador Martha mentioned with YGL that both Cyprus and China have long history and ancient civilizations, and are determined to further strengthen practical cooperation in the fields of education, research, innovation, tourism, health, sports and youth exchanges,etc. which are advancing with prosperous prospects. YGL is committed to continuously contribute its efforts in the great process, as well as to the friendship between the two peoples.
