On December 2nd, following the telephone communication between the leaders of the two states, Minjiang University and European University Cyprus held a video conference, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between China and Cyprus.

Rector A. Efstathiou, fmr. Rector K. Gouliamos and other two vice rectors from European University Cyprus attended the conference. President WANG Zonghua, Vice President Professor Fu Gaosheng and other leaders and faculties from Minjiang University also attended. The meeting was hosted by Dean LIN Zhongyan of International Digital Economy College (IDEC). Ms Simona Luo from YGL，performing as EUC China Officer, gladly attended as the mediator of this conference.

At the meeting, Vice President of Minjiang University Fu Gaosheng introduced the essential points of the Joint Statement of the Establishment of the Strategic Partnership between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Cyprus. Rector of EUC, Professor Efstathiou expressed that the IDEC is operating well under the effort and commitment from both parties. Under the background of growing friendship of the two countries, EUC will stick with Minjiang University in the further cooperation based rooted in IDEC. Rector Efstathiou also sends out warm welcomes to teachers and students from Minjiang University to visit Cyprus after the pandemic. Professor Gouliamos reflected on the history and the upgrading of Cypriot-China relationship, and how IDEC was established under the framework of "Digital Silk Road" which was proposed by President Xi in 2015. Professor Gouliamos praised YGL as a valuable and trustworthy partner, and the great assistance YGL had contributed in the establishment and operation of IDEC. Other guest attendees from EUC also delivered their speech during the conference, and expressed the positive outlook for the future operation of IDEC. In the end，President Wang from Minjiang University delivered his speech, reviewing the great friendship between China and Cyprus, as well as between Minjiang University and EUC, stating both universities will work closely in the future, to jointly cultivate talents with cross-cultural understanding and integrated skills.

At the end of the conference, two universities proposed a forum that will take place next March, with the theme of "The Digital Transformation: connecting best practices of Minjiang University & European University Cyprus".
