From July 6 to 7, 2023, a delegation led by Mr. Fokion Zaimis, Deputy Governor of the Region of Western Greece, paid an official visit to Fuzhou, the capital of Southeast China's Fujian Province. The Agreement was signed on the Establishment of a Friendship Relationship between the Region of Western Greece in the Hellenic Republic and Fujian Province in the People's Republic of China. YGL accompanied the delegation and was invited to the ceremony to share the happiness.

Mr. Fokion Zaimis and Deputy Governor of Fujian Province, Mr. Lin Wenbin, signed the Agreement in the presence of officials from the Foreign Affairs Office, the Department of Education, and the Department of Commerce of Fujian Province, as well as university leaders. This followed 15 months of communication between the two sides, during which they realized their initial vision of promoting regional cooperation based on educational and people-to-people exchanges. As one of the initiators, YGL, together with its partners, have been paying a lot of hard work in the process. The signing of the Agreement sets a good example of the friendship between Fujian Province and other regions in Europe. Through cooperation like this, China can better share its stories with the world, continue its harmonious development, and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

The delegation visited Fujian University of Technology on July 7 and was received by Prof. Tong Xin, President of the university, and Prof. Wu Renhua, Secretary of the university's CPC Committee. On behalf of University of Patras, Mr. Vasileios Vasileiadis, Vice Rector of the university, and President Tong signed the MoU of the Joint Doctoral Program. University of Patras and Fujian University of Technology have built a comprehensive strategic relationship since 2021, with a wide range of cooperations including joint scientific research, teacher training, talent introduction, with a joint institute to be approved soon. Their cooperation has made great contributions to the friendly relationship between the Region of Western Greece and Fujian Province.
