On the afternoon of July 7, Prof. Kostas Gouliamous, former Rector of the European University Cyprus, visited Xi'an University of Finance and Economics for a symposium, organized and accompanied by YGL. Mr. Fang Ming, President of XUFE, as well as the heads of the School of Economics, the School of Public Administration, China (Xi'an) Institute for Silk Road Research, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, and leaders from other departments attended the meeting.

President Fang extended his warm welcome to Prof. Gouliamos and introduced about XUFE as well as their vision of internationalized education in the meeting. He pointed out that XUFE is looking forward to forging a friendly and cooperative relationship with the European University Cyprus, and hoped that the two universities will work hand in hand to promote exchanges and cooperation between China and Cyprus in various fields in the new era.

Prof. Gouliamos expressed his heartfelt thanks to Xi'an University of Finance and Economics for its warm reception, and he briefly introduced the history of European University Cyprus. He expressed hopes that through this visit, the two universities can promote exchanges and cooperation, fully utilize the advantages of their respective disciplines, share high-quality human resources, and conduct substantive cooperation in various forms and with varied content.

The two sides had an in-depth discussion and reached a preliminary intention to cooperate on various programs. These include undergraduate dual-degree programs, master's degree programs, doctoral degree programs, study visit programs, faculty exchanges, academic upgrading, as well as scientific research cooperation. They also intend to jointly publish high-level papers among other aspects.

The visit organized by YGL deepened the understanding and mutual trust between the European University Cyprus and Xi'an University of Finance and Economics, and was an important opportunity for the two universities to establish a friendly and cooperative relationship. It provided students and teachers with a wider range of opportunities for studying abroad and exchanges and contributed to the promotion of friendly relations between China and Cyprus.
