On September 28, 2023, Prof. Dionysios Mantzavinos, Vice Rector for Academic and International Affairs of the University of Patras, and Prof. Alexandros Katsaounis, Director of the Department of Chemical Engineering visited Liaoning University of Technology and attended the opening ceremony of the new students who are the first batch admitted into the China-Greece cooperative undergraduate program of Chemical Engineering jointly organized by LNUT and UP. Prof. Wang Qi, president of Liaoning University of Technology, together with the head of its International Department and the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering accorded a hearty welcome to the visitors from the University of Patras.

The two parties held a friendly meeting. During the meeting, both sides said that they've attached great importance to the in-depth cooperation between the Greek and Chinese universities, and proposed that as implementing the academic cooperation, the two sides can conduct the scientific cooperation and school-enterprise cooperation in line with the layout and development of local industries, making their best efforts to deepen mutual learning between Greek and Chinese civilizations.

Afterwards Prof. Mantzavinos and Prof. Katsaounis met and communicate with the student representatives of the cooperative project. At the communication meeting, the students exchanged their ideas and asked questions actively that made the professors pleased for the students' enthusiasm for seeking knowledge. After the meeting, the two professors also played a friendly basketball match with the students, ended at the score of 3:3.

This cooperative program was reached based on the active promotion of the Chinese Research Institute of the University of Patras. Mr. Liu Jiting, Executive Director of the Institute, led the team to participate in the whole process and actively promote the cooperation and interaction between Greek and Chinese universities institutions of higher education.
