On October 23, 2024, a delegation of government officials from Henan Province, China, under the coordinating of YGL, paid a visit to the "Center for Chinese Studies" jointly established by the European University Cyprus and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2023.

The head of the delegation was Mr. Kong Changsheng, the president of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People in Henan Province. The delegation was received by Professor Kostas Gouliavos, former rector of EUC, and the Director of the "Center for Chinese Studies", along with deans of the Schools of Business Administration, Medicine, Sciences, Law, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as heads of departments of the corresponding schools.

During an extensive meeting between the delegation and the academic community of the European University Cyprus, various issues regarding cultural, research and educational cooperation were discussed. Specifically, Mr. Kong extended an open invitation to the EUC leaders to visit Henan Province. Meanwhile, an agreement was reached to create a "roadmap" between the European University of Cyprus and Henan Province aiming to implement cooperation.

It is worth noting that Henan the third most populous province and the fifth most economically powerful province in China. It is also known as one of the top provinces in China in terms of education, with more than 156 tertiary education institutions. Since 2023, three major cities in the province have been ranked among the top 200 cities in the world (Zhengzhou ranked 76th, Kaifeng ranked 154th, and Xinxiang ranked 195th), based on the results of scientific research conducted by the Nature Index.

Both sides look forward to having more in-depth exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as education and culture in the future.
