From October 16th to 25th, 2024, YGL’s CEO Edison and COO Luo Yinglu accompanied Mantzavinos Dionysios, the Vice Rector of Strategic Internationalization and Extroversion of the University of Patras to visit the Greek Embassy in China and other prestigious universities & educational institutions. Aiming to introduce high-quality educational resources, carry out international educational exchanges accurately and deepen practical cooperation between the universities from both sides, the visit is regarded as a model of Sino-Greek educational cooperation.

On October 16th, YGL accompanied Mantzavinos Dionysios, the Vice Rector of Strategic Internationalization and Extroversion of the University of Patras to visit the Greek Embassy in China. The ambassador warmly received us and asked about the progress of cooperation between the University of Patras and Chinese universities. He also entrusted the Vice Rector to lead more high-level Greek universities to carry out various types of cooperation in China, promoting the vigorous development of higher education and cultural exchange between China and Greece. Subsequently, YGL accompanied the the Vice Rector visited Beijing University of Chemical Technology and officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement, opening a new chapter in the cooperation between China and Greece in the field of new engineering.

On October 17th, YGL accompanied Professor Mantzavinos, the Executive Vice Rector of the University of Patras to visit Hebei University of Technology. We were invited to visit the history museum, ancient architecture museum, engineering experimental center, intelligent innovation center, etc. During the meeting, the two universities reached a consensus to carry out multi-level cooperation in talent joint training, personnel exchange and will make joint efforts for the cooperation of Hebei University of Technology in Greece. In addition to campus visits, Hebei University of Engineering also arranged city tours for the guests, among which the cultural heritage and urban charm of Handan have left a deep impression on Professor Mantzavinos.

On October 18th, YGL accompanied Professor Mantzavinos visited Liaoning University of Technology and had in-depth exchanges with LUT leaders, the Chinese & Greek teachers and students of the sino-foreign cooperative education projects. Liaoning University of Technology and the University of Patras jointly launched the Sino foreign Cooperative Education Program for Chemical Engineering, which is now in its second enrollment year. With the joint efforts of both parties, the program has operated stably, received good feedback from students and its reputation has continued to improve. During this visit, both parties had detailed discussions on project management, teaching arrangements, quality assurance, communication mechanisms and other details, which played an important role in the long-term stable and sustainable development of the project.

On October 21st, YGL accompanied Professor Mantzavinos visited Fujian University of Technology and was warmly received by Professor Wei Jiangang, the President of FJUT. After the meeting, the President Wei officially issued a letter of appointment of ‘Minjiang Scholar’ to Professor Mantzavinos, welcoming the professor to join the ecological environment research team at FJUT. At present, the research teams of both sides have jointly published several SCI papers. In the new academic year, they will focus on joint doctoral training in related cooperation fields and recruit Greek teachers to carry out teaching work in China. Looking forward to the two universities promoting a new chapter in higher education between China and Greece.

On October 23-24th, YGL accompanied Professor Mantzavinos visited Sichuan Agricultural University and was invited to participate in the forum on the Frontier of Sustainable Development of Green and Low-Carbon Agriculture. In early 2023, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Sichuan Agricultural University led a delegation to visit University of Patras, the two sides signed a memorandum of cooperation and Sichuan Agricultural University also awarded a guest professor certificate to the Vice Rector Mantzavinos. Afterwards, the two universities have been promoting cooperation in joint research and paper publishing. This visit by the Vice Rector Mantzavinos further consolidates the friendly relationship between the two universities, inject new connotations and impetus into the the friendly city relationship between Patras and Chengdu, the joint scientific research, talent cultivation and explores cooperative new areas.

On October 25th, YGL accompanied Professor Mantzavinos participated in a forum organized by the Guangzhou International Talent Exchange Association to discuss the high-quality development of vocational education internationalization empowered by AI with scholars from Zhejiang University, Beijing Normal University and Guangdong University of Technology. He also visited Sun Yat-sen University and discussed the introduction of talents, the joint construction of scientific research and the service of enterprises along ‘the the Belt and Road’ with Professor Tan Xiaojun, the Vice Dean of the Institute of Intelligent Engineering.

In the next step, YGL will continue to provide support for the practical cooperation between the University of Patras and partner universities, make greater contributions to China-Greek cultural exchanges, people to people connections and joint cultivation of high-quality talents.
