On the afternoon of October 29, 2025, the inauguration ceremony of Patras International Engineer Institute (PIEI), Fujian University of Technology (FJUT) was held in the Academic Lecture Hall of FJUT Qishan Campus.

Panagiotis Papadopoulos, Vice Chairman of the Western Greece Region, Greece; Georgia Andreadi, Consul General of Greece in Guangzhou; Dionysios Mantzavinos, Vice President of the University of Patras; responsible persons from relevant departments of the Provincial Department of Education; and leaders of FJUT attended the ceremony. Representatives of teachers, students and students’ parents of PIEI also participated in the event.

Prior to the ceremony, representatives from China and Greece held discussions and exchanged school gifts. They reached a consensus on multiple aspects including cooperation plans, teacher-student exchanges and scientific research.

In May, 2025, Patras International Engineer Institute, Fujian University of Technology ---- a cooperative educational institution jointly established by Fujian University of Technology and the University of Patras, Greece ---- was approved by the Ministry of Education. This institution is not only the first Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution of FJUT, but also the first approved cooperative educational project between China and Greece in the field of higher education.

As widely known, the University of Patras is a first-class university in Greece, a leading institution in Europe and a world-renowned university, with particularly prominent advantages in engineering disciplines. The two universities jointly set up Patras International Engineer Institute to systematically introduce the European engineer training system. Leveraging the top-notch majors, strong disciplines, and high-quality educational resources of both universities, PIEI will provide high-quality international undergraduate education. It aims to cultivate international engineer talents who possess profound patriotism, broad international vision, and excellent professional capabilities, thereby providing strong support for leading the high-quality development of strategic emerging industries in Fujian.
